It Gets Better

I rarely talk about high school. In fact, I usually make it a point to avoid discussing that time in my life.  But with the recent string of LGBT suicides in the news, I felt the need to speak up and share my own story.

I had no idea who would watch my video. I mean, definitely my friends (who have always been supportive) and perhaps a few facebook acquaintances, but overall, I figured that my story would be shared with people who already knew me.

Since submitting my video for the It Gets Better Project, my life has changed in ways I never imagined.  People have been contacting me, some to say thanks for sharing my story and others who wanted someone to talk to. I’m really honored that people have been reaching out to me and I hope that my presence reminds my new friends they are not alone.

*NEWS* I am featured in the book It Gets Better: Coming Out, Overcoming Bullying, and Creating a Life Worth Living edited by Dan Savage and Terry Miller.
